Year Two
Welcome to Year 2.
The teachers in our Year 2 classes are Mrs Dunn (2DB), Mrs Browne (2DB) and Mrs Boothdale (2B).
This year we are going to be doing a wide variety of fun, creative and exciting topics and activities that link in a cross curricular way. We have already had a great start to the year by all becoming more Eco-friendly during our Green Week and we are carrying on making sure we try to Reduce, Re-use and Recycle throughout the year.
This Autumn Term in Year 2 we will be taking an informative trip to a local church and seeing how they prepare themselves for Christmas, as part of our RE curriculum. We will also be studying The Great Fire of London and linking this with our art topic to create our own images of the event. It is also Mrs Dunn's and Mrs Browne's assembly on 17th November.
In the Spring Term, we will be looking at famous people throughout the ages and looking at Florence Nightingale and her heroic efforts during the Crimean War. Also we will be looking at the topic of night time and researching the creatures, animals and people that are awake when we go to bed to create our own information booklet! What's more it is Mrs Boothdale's assembly on the 9th March.
Finally in the Summer Term we will be able to take the opportunity to go to the seaside as part of our Geography and History topics as well as and compare how it has changed from the past.
