School Rules

We believe that the most effective way to achieve good behaviour is to establish a secure, caring and positive learning environment, in which all children can experience success and realise their full potential. Although we promote self-discipline whenever possible, we acknowledge that this can only become the norm when clear expectations and boundaries are set. The following aims are taken from our positive behaviour policy, which is followed by all staff. (A copy of this policy can be obtained from the school, as can our policy on anti-bullying.)

All staff aim to:

  • provide a positive role model for pupils, through the way in which they speak to and relate to other adults and children.
  • encourage, recognise and reward good behaviour.
  • respond and deal appropriately with bad behaviour, according to school policy.

Children and staff aim to:

  • treat everyone with courtesy, consideration and respect.
  • talk and listen to each other, in order to understand and show respect for different talents, attitudes, customs and cultures.
  • be fair and consistent towards each other.
  • value, take pride in and care for the school and its community.

Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. Physical violence, swearing and refusal to follow a reasonable request made by a member of staff, is also viewed as totally unacceptable.

The main rule for all of us in school is:

·         to be polite and considerate to each other at all times.

To help with the day-to-day running of our school we operate the following guidance:

·         Sweets and pocket-money are not allowed in school.

·         Ball games are not allowed in the playgrounds at break times.

·         The wearing of jewellery, except stud ear-rings or items accepted under the religious

      Artifacts guidance is not permitted.

·         Watches must be removed during PE and Games lessons.

·         Bicycles are not permitted in school, unless authorized by the Head teacher.

The governors may make exceptions to some of these rules, after consideration of parental requests or medical information.
