Parents and Our School

Welcome

The task of educating children provides a valuable opportunity for schools and parents to work together. At Newark Hill, we wish to encourage parents to play a positive role in their child's education and have produced a booklet, ‘Starting School at Newark Hill’, to help you.

Parents are most welcome in school and the Head teacher will be pleased to see those who have queries or problems. Teachers are also willing to see parents, either at the end of the school day or by special arrangement. Please contact your child's class teacher, or telephone the school secretary for an appointment, should you wish to discuss any issues or matters arising.

Parent/Teacher consultation evenings are provided for parents in the Autumn and Spring terms. If this time is not convenient, then alternative arrangements can be made with the class teacher, in order that you meet to discuss your child’s progress. An annual written report is sent home in July.

Our school encourages informal contacts between teachers and parents. Some parents come into school to lend a hand, whilst others might accompany the staff and children on out-of-school activities. This involvement is greatly valued. If you would like to help, or you are interested in visiting the school, please contact the Head teacher. Needlecraft, cookery, listening to children read, swimming, craft skills and games are all areas where parents can help most profitably with small groups. We hope that you may feel able to help a group of children, particularly if you can offer a special or relevant skill.
