PSHE
Considerable emphasis has been given to this area of the curriculum during the past few years. Newark Hill School is currently participating in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Health Promoting Schools initiative and follows the Cambridgeshire Scheme of Work for P.S.H.E. This scheme focuses on:
• Feelings and Relationships
• Growing and Changing
• Keeping Safe
• Drugs and Medicines
Through the recent implementation of the BASEAL curriculum, which addresses behavioural, social and emotional aspects of learning, we also seek to arm children with strategies to help deal with their emotions and feelings and the vocabulary needed to express themselves in an appropriate and acceptable manner. Our School Council also meets regularly to give the children early lessons in citizenship and a student voice, through which questions might be raised and decisions made.
