In DT, the pupils follow a programme designed to cover all the statutory requirements, allowing them to explore technology through group-based problem solving activities. These involve a variety of construction techniques and principles, incorporating designing and making skills together with knowledge and understanding of mechanisms and products. The children are taught to use the appropriate tools safely and accurately, whilst using a variety of materials to design and make artefacts and systems. A cycle of planning, making and evaluating products, forms the basis for all classroom based projects.
