Curriculum

The National Curriculum Framework forms the basis for all teaching and learning in our school.

The National Curriculum:

  • is a curriculum aimed at The Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.
  • includes subjects which should be taught to all pupils except in exceptional circumstances.
  • outlines programmes of study, specifying essential teaching points within each subject area.
  • includes level descriptors, which describe the types and range of performance that pupils working at a particular level should demonstrate.
  • includes assessment arrangements, relating to the levels of attainment defined by the level descriptors.

Religious Education is not part of the National Curriculum. However, there is a statutory requirement for all pupils to be taught this subject, except where parents request otherwise. Religious Education is taught according to a locally agreed syllabus.
