Admission Procedures

Children are admitted to the school at the beginning of the year in which they are five years old. Children are offered a place from the beginning of the Autumn Term (September). Some children are very young when they first attend school. If you have concerns about your child being full-time, then this can be discussed with the Head teacher.

An information evening, for the parents or guardians of children due to start in the Autumn, is held during the preceding Summer term. This offers the opportunity to meet staff and view the school at leisure. Children will have a chance to meet their new teacher and other children in their class, when they come into school for pre-arranged visits.

Anyone wishing to register their child should contact the school office for relevant information and

a registration form. You are welcome to visit the school by prior appointment. Please telephone the school office to make arrangements.

Places are limited, in the first instance, to children living in the catchment area of the school. Should spaces exist, once these places have been filled, children can be admitted on the basis of the following criteria, listed in the priority order, up to the school’s agreed admission limit.

  • Looked After Children.
  • Verified medical need. (Requirements are strict & must be supported by medical certificates)
  • Children with a brother or sister in attendance of the school.
  • In cases of equal merit, priority will be given to those living nearest to the school, by the shortest available safe walking route.
  • Children who would have furthest to walk by the shortest available safe walking route, to the nearest alternative primary school with spare places.
